Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati popularly known as IIT Guwahati or IITG is an autonomous institute for higher education in Engineering and Technology. It is situated in Guwahati, Assam. It is 6th among the IITs in India. IITG was set up in 1994 whereas its academic programmes started in the year 1995.

The IITG campus is situated on the banks of Brahmaputra and spreads over an area of 700 acres of land. At present there are more than 2300 students, 300 support staff, and 215 faculty members.
